Hey Jessica, well done on the great video! Your video was very well structured, and set the tone for the order of the video very early on. It was interesting to hear about your background in mechanical engineering and project management, and how you ended up on this placement. It gave a unique perspective on your experience. You gave a very in depth overview of the operations of KMC Savills, and what you undertook on your placement, and it was very insightful to learn about the organisation and your experiences there. It was interesting to hear how you thought the law in the Philippines is very complicated due to its numerous sources of law.

If there is anything I could contribute to you video, I would suggest the use of some background music, to make the video more engaging for the topics you are discussing. The use of videos to supplement the photos could’ve also contributed to making the presentation more visually stimulating. Overall your video was very instructive, and I enjoyed learning not just about KMC Savills and your experience, but also about how the law operates in the Philippines.

Hi Jessica, this sounds like such a rare but great experience. Your video is excellent and the background information gave us a great insight to your future career path. It sounds like you had such a well rounded experience. Did you find it hard from studying Australian law to then practice in the Philippines? Congratulations on finishing your internship!

This is a very interesting description of commercial legal work in a different country, Jessica. Lots of similarities with Australia but also cultural challenges to overcome. Good to see that you have realised the transferability of your skills and the value of your project management experience!

    Hi Jessica,

Well done on a very interesting video. This internship seems very unique as this company seems to be quite a big deal commercially…

Was the legal work very dependent on case law ? You mentioned that only Supreme Court decisions are binding… this could be quite an issue?

Did your work cross over with Sharia law and did this impact on what you originally would have decided ?

It seems like this opportunity has provided a great deal of experience in contract law and I think you are correct in saying that prospective employer’s will look favourably on this.

    Well done.

    Hi Jessica,
Thanks for sharing your experience at KMC Savills, it sounds like it was a wonderful learning opportunity. Opportunities to learn firsthand about other nation’s legal systems don’t come by everyday, and coming out of something like this is sure to put a feather in the cap! Particularly impressed about your background in engineering, this must have helped with some of the project management tasks involved in corporate law. From an outsider unfamiliar with the legal system of the Philippines, your video was incredibly informative, particularly about the mix of civil and common law systems.

Hi Jessica – what a marvelous experience. I enjoyed how you gave some background about yourself, to give context to why you chose to do the internship. By canvassing the community impact of your work, it really made me understand the benefit of you being there and the purpose that you drew from it. Hi Jessica!

I really enjoyed hearing about your corporate internship in Philippines! Having exposure to such a broad range of areas of law in your placement must have been such a fantastic experience. It must have also been interesting having experience in the blended system of law in the Philippines. The challenges you would have had to overcome to navigate the difficulties inherent in that system would certainly have been a valuable career experience!

The range of work you had to undertake also sounded very challenging and you should be commended for that.

    Great work!

    Adam
